BR 2-05: Diana

"In the magazine pictures Dianna was young and beautiful. But was she happy?" (Vicary, 1998, p5)


I chose this book because I'm interested in Diana's life. What makes her life unhappy? What contribute in society did she do? I want to know the truth.


Diana was princess in England and her husband Charles was prince. They got married, but they didn't feel love each other. Charles has been loved Camilla who has known each other for a long time. Diana was shocked and ill. I think if she doesn't marry with Charles, she may be happy. I watched the news about Diana's die when I was a child. I remembered every one cried and this news gave big impact for many people. She was rich, and beautiful, but she has never been haughty herself. She talked various people equally. I like her character and I think we should respect her thinking. We don't separate rich and poor and healthy people and patients. We are the same and we are the human.


After I read, if she still alive, she can change the world, I think. Her life looked unhappy, but she gave hope for many ordinary people. I was sad about her life, but her name is known all over the world.

BR 2-04: The Run away Pancake

"The pancake rolled out of the gate and into the road, faster and faster." (Mackinnon, 2006, p.9)

I chose this book because the title of this book was interesting. Can Pancake run fast? It's so funny expression!


This story was about a Pancake which was cooked by one big family's mother. At that time, they started to eat it, but they couldn't. It run away and rolled out in the house. They chased but they couldn't catch it. Pancake was chased many animals, ducks, cats, goats, foxes. It was very cute that its looks. Nobody couldn't expect who can be able to eat it.

After I read, I became smile about the Pancake's last. Who got the yummy Pancake? The family? or some animals? If you want to know the last, check this book out!

BR 2-01: Sally's Phone

"Paul picks up his phone and goes out of the cafe. Sally finishes her coffee. She picks up her bag and her phone, and goes back to work" (Lindop, 2008, p.9).

The reason I chose "Sally's Phone" was including love stories. Also I felt development of information society. Recently people are depending on high technology. We can see websites in cell phone and every day we are using internet. Every year technical innovation is developed and we are surprised at.


I like the scene that Sally and Paul met in the coffee bar. It was miracle for them to change their phone accidentally. Sally was bored her boy friend, so Paul was fresh and nice. If I were her, I would think same thing! I think this story is similar to drama. Sally had Paul's phone, and Paul also had Sally's phone. Sally didn't know why she had his phone, but after that she knew the truth. Phone is very useful to communicate many people and carry every where. However if you mistake how to use once, it'll invite terrible, but in Sally's case, things were going well. I hope their love still continue.

BR 2-02: Soup with Obby

"Obby stood by a small stove, stirring something in a big pot." (Umansky, 2001, p7)

There is a reason why I chose this book was I wanted to see the contents of the magical soup.
Was it good or bad? I wanted to know details about the soup.


Obby lives in a little house near the small river. One day, Sam and her friends went his house to introduce him. I was the tastes of strange soup that he was just making. The soup was looking so bad, but the tastes was wonderful. The tastes is different in each person. Besides, favorite tastes that every one like! Maybe Magic Toad Stools will change it.


After I finished reading this book, I think I don't like the last of the story. It made me sad. Except it, you can enjoy reading it.

BR 2-03: Stories of Mermaids

"Coral told Dan 2005er amazing secret. A week later, they went to the rocks to meet the king." (Punter, 1989, p.45).

I chose this book because it's written about ocean. There are three interesting stories in it. Each stories were good, so I felt like to read these stories soon.

Especially, I like third story. The title is "The dancing mermaid". Coral is young mermaid. If she has legs, she has a lot of things to do. However she found 1 good thing while she changed a human. She  was fall in love with human boy. I think this story is like "Little Mermaid", but this story makes me happy.

Many sea animal are written in three kinds of stories, so you'll feel as if you were in the ocean. The words is not so hard , but perhaps you'll find difficult words.

BR 1-14: A Rat for Mouse

    I chose this book because I was fascinated with a cute hamster on the book cover. Mouse is a shy boy, and he looks like a hamster because hamster often hide too! When his friend boosted his new hamster, Mouse feels like buy some animals. After all he bought a rat. His friends and family hate a rat. The rat suddenly bit one of his friend because he grabbed it. Mouse treated it properly, so it has never bit him. If people have some animals, they have to follow rules for pets
    After I read, I was thought how I keep my pets again. I was glad to it adored him gradually. If you like animals, you can enjoy reading it.

BR 1-13: Saving Coral Reefs

     Have you ever seen real coral reefs? They have vivid color and beautiful. This book tells me why we shouldn't destroy sea resources. Our ocean can be kept clean by coral reefs. They are formed by colal polyps. If they are died, the new polyps were made m;any times. Recently, oceans were dirty by pollution for factories or rubbish. Changing this environment isn't easy. It needs our cooperation. We can pick up garbages and keep clean our sea. Actually, When I went to Okinawa in junior high school days, I was shocked the color of the sea. Okinawa is famous of the beautiful sea. But then, the sea wasn't clean. The color wasn't blue. Some rubbish was floating on the sea. I heard a lot of sea is disappear every year. It is a big problem to save nature environment.
      After I read, I found coral reefs can't live easily without our cooperating. They are effected by human life strongly. The condition is bad or good, it is up to us. We should have to know real condition in the sea more.

BR 1-12: Sheep Staion

     I don't know sheep's work in the farm. I want to know how sheep's working is useful in society, so I chose this book. Sheep dogs always lead sheeps for the farmers. The dogs are wise and especially a heading dog leads them without barking. Wool is used various things in our life. For example, clothes, carpets, gloves and so on. It includes warm materials, so we can endure such bitter cold. After I read, I understood sheeps took a better training by special dogs in the farm. The sheeps which has cut their hair is looks slim, I think. I want to cut their hair once! How about trying to read it?

BR 1-11: The princess and the Pea

       This book is kind of fairy tale. Prince Patrick was fussy person on searching a real princess. He traveled with his subject and his maid to witch's house. Witch suggested "The real princess test". A real princess has to possess, "Politeness to one and all", "Kindness to rich and poor", "Very sensitive skin". (P.18) He tried these things for each girls, but he couldn't find a good princess...
After I read, I think he couldn't know his real princess in the nearest places. I surprised Patrick got married his maid! I didn't expect the last, so it was excited story. If you read this book, you'll feel to travel with him.

BR 1-10: Leonardo da Vinci

          This book is about the life of Leonardo da Vinci. His uncle, Francesco recommended him to the way to artists. As they grow, his talent was opened gradually. He liked drawing, inventing and thinking many things. When the plague spread in Italy, he considered, how can the bad disease end. He thought not only sketching, his view was wide. His famous works are "The Last Supper", "Mona Lisa" and so on. I thought "Mona Lisa" is not exist, so I didn't know she was merchant's wife. Leonardo's paintings are mysterious. I know he used egg-or-oil based paints, it made many paintings more softly. If you haven't read this book, you can try it once!

Mrs. Doubtfire

         Daniel Hillard (Daniel) was a pure man, so he is like a child. His wife was Miranda. She worked as an interior designer and her life is every day busy. Daniel worked as a voice actor for animations, but his opinion wasn't accepted to his coworker. Finally, he quit his job. They have 3children, Lydie, Chris, Nattie.
        One day, Daniel hold a big party for Chris's birthday. He invited not only his friends but also mobile petting zoo. People were dancing and talking loudly. Also, the room was in a mess and dirty. Miranda heard the complaint about it from her neighbor, she got angry. The party was over and they were silent at once. She couldn't endure her husband's behavior so she told him about divorce. He wanted to stay with his children, but he couldn't by the judgment. Miranda got a right of bring-up temporary and Daniel could see children once a week. I t was a serious problem for him because he loved them. Miranda noticed in advertisement about housekeeper. Daniel knew that, he decided to change woman. He put mask on his face and made up like a n old woman. He began to work in Miranda's house as "Mrs. Doubt".
        This work was wasn't easy. He failed many times but he was happy because he could see his children every day. At the same time, Daniel got a new job at the TV station. However, Miranda got a new boyfriend, Stuart. He was her old friend also her client. Daniel (Mrs. Doubt) and Stuart hate each other, so Daniel disturbed their love every times. At last, Chris found Doubt wasn't woman at the toilet, she was his father, Daniel. Children knew a secret, not to tell their mother, but gradually his real figure was exposed.
         This movie's theme are "Family love", " Trust each other", " Daniel and Miranda's  different sense of value", "Deceive", " Father's love". Every time father thought his children and he struggled many housework that he hasn't tried ever. He could have a chance to talk to Miranda again. Maybe his life will be going well.

BR 1-09: HIP HOP

      This book is kind of music. Hiphop began in the Bronx in New York in the 1970's. Young people sung rap music and break dancing at the same time. They were crazy about this new music style. Now, the clothes which is drawn graffiti art are one of the famous fashion. The art has original quality, so it become a symbol of Hiphop. Hiphop music tells all over the world to the way to live and what people think.
      I read this book, I was impressed with people communicate through music without talking. Also, some Japanese annoy about graffiti art drawn in walls or public places. The arts aren't be allowed that places, so volunteer group erases the vicious arts every time. I think it's serious problem to us. In the U.S, "painting on public spaces isn't legal", so I was surprised about that. Music effects a lot of field. I know some Hiphop artists and listen to their songs every times. I like this book and I feel like to listen the music at once!!

Essay 1-02b: Worth campus life

         Why new students think "University Life is free"? It's because students aren't restricted any rules. We can learn many things freely through the campus life about 4years. I'm going to introduce my life in KGU, so you can compare your high school life to university life that how the university is free.      
          First, you can take a lecture what you like. There are a lot of lectures, so you have to decide before spring semester starts. Lecture time is 90minutes, so you may be tired about it. When you were a high school student, you might be scolded sometimes by your teacher about your attitude for the class or your appearance. Actually, teachers doesn't interfere in student's attitude so much, so we need to join in the lecture actively. I got totally 46credits, and another 4credits are not counted in regular credits. The most interesting lecture which I take is "Japanese Phonetics". I've been interested in Japanese teacher since entrance ceremony, so I take it. The teacher, Ms.S is kind to us, and her teach is easy to understand. Now, we are analyzing how foreigner's pronounce in Japanese. Every weeks are exciting and very active. If you want to be a Japanese teacher, you can start to take "Japanese Education" in 1st year. I study hard to keep my grade not to down. Teacher's speaking is useful and they tell us some advice for our future, so you listen carefully, and it'll add spice to your campus life.
          Second, there are a lot of facilities in the campus. Especially, I often go to the bakery with my friends during lunch time or my vacant hours. On rainy day there is full of students, so we can't get good seats then. I usually spend talking with my friends while eating. All breads are delicious, so you'll find your favorite breads. Also, when I want to study, I use the library. If you come there, you'll be surprised at the perfect equipments. You can not only read books but also watch movies, and use computers freely. You'll be able to stay there all day without worrying times.
          Third, I study hard for get some licenses. For example, Secretarial Skill Proficiency Test and Certified Travel Business Supervisor. If you want to get some licenses, but you don't know how to study first. You don't worry about them. You can apply to lectures, so it helps you. I'm not using lectures, so I study by myself at home. If you want to try to get licenses, I recommend you to take lectures.
         Finally, you can make friends more than high school. In high school, I always played with fixed friends, but I could make a lot of friends beyond the class through some events in KGU. For example, fresh-man camp, culture festival, or circle. We can know friends who are different age. There are many places to meet various people. At the same time, we are sensitive about them. It's up to you whether you make good friends, or bad friends. You have to be careful to make friends first, however friends make your life more worthy.
          KGU has comfortable environments to urge us study. If you go to KGU, you can develop your skills and thinking freely. You mustn't miss your own goal, and enjoy studying yourself to the full.

BR 1-08: Stories of Fairytale Castles

         This book has three interesting stories about castle. I like each stories, but especially I like 1st story, "The invisible castle". Flora loved in near forests and she liked to help for others. She was loved villagers and animals. One morning, when she lost way to go home, she found the way to go to invisible castle. Also, she met a Prince there. He worried that the witch who have not invited in a party made guests frozen statues. She heard this sad story, she cried for the frozen people and kissed his hand. Suddenly the witch's bad spell was broken! One kindest girl could break the spell. She could save many people in the castle.
          After I read, I think we should respect her character. Flora is kind for all people, not only human but also animals. Her kindness changed people's life happily, so she could break the strong spell in the invisible castle. I'm glad she got married with prince. This story tells us to help others without asking reward is the best thing. I want to be like her. I haven't read the book like fairytale, but I want to read fairytale stories more!

BR 1-07: Twins

      This book is kind of science. Twins are divided into three patterns; "identical twins", "fraternal twins" and "conjoined twins". I wondered how twins are born and I wanted to know the differences mutual of twins.
       I surprised the most interesting things are identical twins have different finger prints. First, they have same DNA, but as they grow, it is changing gradually. Therefore, one twin looks thin, but the opposite is not so thin. Twins faces resemble each other, but their character may not the same. I thought twins are same in all of their parts before I read this book. However, I learned some twins are not the same. Like "mirror twins", their hair whorls is opposite way, and one twin use opposite hand when they're studying, eating, using scissors. After I read, my thinking was changed how to the way to see for twins. I understood how to be born twins, and their lives. I think you also enjoy reading this book!

BR 1-06: Stories of DOGS

         There are three interesting stories about brave dogs. I like each stories, and I enjoyed reading them. I have a dog at my house, his name is "Jolly". He can jump and run fast in spite of his age. I always take a walk to see his cute face. In this reason, I love dogs! Then I thought, " I want to read this book!"
         My favorite story is "Top dog". Sprite were going to show the dog's big competition. However he injured his paw by a scruffy man, so he couldn't  show his skills fully. When I read this scene, I was sad because he looked so painful! After that, winners cup was stolen by someone. Spite found the bad man that stole the cup. The thief was the man who injured to spite's paw!!
Spite chased him and he could back the important cup. After I read, I'm glad finally he got a prize. I learned this story, brave dogs finally win! I want to be the brave person like him.

BR 1-05: Spider-Man

         I chose this book because I like the movie which is based on this book. Spider-Man is a hero that people who needs someone to help. I don't like spider, but I want to get a power like him! This story is not only action story but also include love story.

        Spider-Man(Peter Parker) is withdrawn, but I like his character because he is sincere person. He has loved one woman since he was a child. I think he was changed since he got his another face "Spider-Man". He worked to save he loved ones. His will is strong as a hero, so he could save a lot of people and overcame enemies. I couldn't understand why his best friend(Harry Osborn) let Peter down. If my best friend go out my beloved person without my permission, I'll lose trust for her. I'm glad to the story ended happily.
In fact, the original story began to start in 1962. First, it was born as a picture and people made an animation and broadcast in TV show. After that it became one of the famous movies. I was surprised it has a long history!
        Even you haven't watched this movie before, you can enjoy once you read this book. Try it once!

BR 1-04: BRITISH LIFE

       I took this class about UK last year, so I've been interested in the country before I read this book. This is a reason why I chose it. I was surprised "English" and "British" isn't same. English is one of the nations in the UK. On the other hand, the Scots, Welsh and Northern Irish are British. We should have a right view about these things.
       I've read this book, I found few things that compare Japanese to British. First, about 65% of people over the age of 65 live alone. I couldn't believe about that. I'm sure old people living alone is dangerous and they'll felt lonely. When children grow up, they begin to live alone. They depend their parents not so much. Japanese children have different way to live. Even children live alone, their parents meet sometimes or children go home their own home. Most parents worry about their children whether they eat healthy meals and they're fine. Second, British couples don't think their marriage first. They live together, and get married. I thought This process is very long but good for each other because they have a lot of time to talk their future. Some Japanese couples get married early without living together. They will not know each other so much, so many couples divorce. British couples think about their jobs at once before they have children. I thought British couples have prudent thinking each other. Japanese couples should be carefully themselves more.
      I learned British real life through this book. It made me fresh, and you also find a lot of differences more than you thought.

BR 1-03: The Revealing Story of Under wear

       Do you know why under wear like we're wearing appear? I didn't know that until I read this book. I chose it because I'm interested in fashion that we're wearing everyday.
       After I've read read this book, I surprised that ancient people in Egypt began wearing under wear first. If we don't wear anything, absolutely we're ashamed. Tops may not need to wear for men sometimes, but women need tops always! Most women have idea that they always cover their bodies. Of course, they don't want to show naked body in public. Also, under wear is most important thing in our body. We must conceal only this parts both men and women. In middle age, thin waists and wide hips is popular, so women wear corsets under their dresses. I think I'm glad to be born then because women felt bad the tight corsets, and they often become sick. I cannot endure of it. Nowadays, under wear became big change. It's lighter than past and a lot of pattern of shorts make us more excited. Everyone can choose what they like.
In addition, thanks to many high-tech inventions, we wash our clothes speedy and keep our body clean too. How about trying to read this book?
